About Digha Tourism
Digha is one of the most popular beach haunts and weekend getaways for the people of West Bengal. Around 187 km away from Kolkata, Digha, originally known as Beerkul, is well known for its hard flat beaches, allowing long drives and walks during the low tides.However,
this beach town has seen severe soil erosion, thus losing some of the
glory it enjoyed in its heydays. This has resulted in the formation of New Digha, an extension of Digha, 2km away. This is a pleasant enough stretch, lined with Casuarina plantations, and the sea is calm and safe for swimming.
